Ramsay Healthcare has been growing since 1985 when it was founded by John Ramsay, a Scottish businessman and inventor who had been involved in several businesses including the sale of cinema equipment from locations such as Odeon Cinemas at Leicester Square, London. The company’s first foray into healthcare was when they began providing catering services for hospitals across Scotland in 1985.[4] In 1992 they expanded into England by acquiring Dingle Community Hospital in Devon which had been built using money raised by local residents through voluntary subscriptions.[5]
