It is well known that nurses are overworked and underpaid. The average nursing salary in the United States is $61,000 per year. However, with an average of 1.9 patients per nurse, it becomes clear why nurses are hurriedly trying to make as much income as possible.

It is also important for leaders like yourself to take this into consideration when planning care for your patients because you have no control over how many people will show up at your door each day or what time they will arrive; however you can influence how many times they stay at their bedside during their hospital stay by making sure every nurse has enough time alone with one patient at a time (or two if need be).

Nurses also lack social security coverage for their work and therefore do not have adequate health benefits. This makes them worry about their ability to support themselves financially should they become ill or injured.
