Sexual orientation and gender identity are separate from each other. People who do not identify with the gender assigned to them at birth may express their gender in different ways. Transgender individuals may identify with a different gender than the one they were assigned at birth.

• What is sexual orientation?

Sexual orientation refers to how people relate to others of the same sex or opposite gender. Someone’s sexual orientation can be heterosexual, bisexual and pansexual. It also includes other terms such as gay and lesbian. In some cases, the term “lesbian” may be used interchangeably with “woman who has had sex with other women.” Other times they will refer to themselves as a “gay woman,” though this is not considered an official term by many activists because it suggests that being attracted exclusively towards other females is more important than being attracted towards males (or even both).

• What is gender identity?

Gender identity describes how someone feels about their gender; it’s separate from biological sex (being male/female). People who identify within a specific binary (male/female) may choose not to conform with those stereotypes when it comes to clothing choices or hairstyles etc., but still want society around them understand their preference for specific types of clothing like skirts over trousers

Describe

Lesbian, bisexual and transgender people are different from heterosexual and cisgender people. They experience different experiences and may have different needs, which can make it difficult for them to access health care services. Lesbians may face discrimination in their everyday lives if they come out as gay or bisexual; some lesbian women who identify as heterosexual still feel as though they have a “double life.” Transgender individuals face additional challenges due to discrimination based on gender identity or expression; many do not feel comfortable sharing their true identities with others because they believe that doing so will result in isolation or harassment.

Due to these differences between lesbians/bisexuals/transgenders and heterosexuals/cisgenders, there are often more risks associated with being LGBT (lesbian-gay-bisexual/transgender) than other groups within society where there is less stigma surrounding sexuality orientation.

Transgender people may also choose to use pronouns other than he/she/him/her; this does not change anything about who they are internally or what their lived experiences are like.

Some transgender people express themselves through clothing choices or hairstyles; others prefer to remain private about their identities so as not offend anyone else who doesn’t understand what it means for someone else’s body parts not match up with what everyone else expects from them! Think about how much time we spend worrying about what clothes look good on us before we even get dressed each morning–how many times do we ask ourselves if our hair looks okay? How many times do we check how much makeup we’ve applied before stepping out into public view (especially when going somewhere new)?

There doesn’t seem anything wrong with wanting something different than most other people want out there right now – especially since almost everything changes over time anyway – but once again here comes another opportunity where I could be hurt again because none of my friends understand why I would want something so different from theirs when those same friends don’t care either way; instead they focus only on whether this particular outfit makes me look fat/not fat enough etcetera…

Lesbian, bisexual and transgender people have different experiences than heterosexuals and cisgender people.

It’s important to remember that lesbian, bisexual and transgender people have different experiences than heterosexuals and cisgender people. This doesn’t mean that they are any less valid or worthy of respect, but just because someone has those same experiences doesn’t mean they are the same as you.

There are many reasons why these differences exist:

• Heterosexuality is not a sexual orientation–it’s an identity label used by society to define how people think about themselves (and what they expect from others). Cisgender refers to those who identify with their assigned sex at birth; therefore, someone can be heterosexual even if their gender expression differs from typical expectations for men or women.* Sexual orientation refers more specifically to romantic attraction toward other members of one’s own gender; it does not necessarily match physical anatomy.* Gender refers more specifically still: It describes whether someone identifies as male/female rather than simply masculine/feminine. Because transgender individuals experience dysphoria within this binary system (where males have certain characteristics associated with being male while females have other characteristics associated), many prefer terms such as genderqueer or non-binary instead of simply referring only within binary terms like “lesbian” or “transsexual.”

Conclusion

It is important to understand that not all people who experience same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria identify as lesbian, bisexual or transgender. However, there are many similarities between those who do and those who do not. For example, both groups may experience stigma and discrimination from the public because of their identity. In addition, both can be affected by social pressures associated with their sexual orientation or gender identity.
