As such, college graduates may be seen as lacking the necessary skills to handle emotionally challenging situations in the real world. However, regardless of these perceived differences, the research suggests that college graduates have the potential to be just as emotionally intelligent as their non-graduate counterparts, provided they are given the necessary support and resources. Therefore, it is important for those working with college graduates to make sure that they are providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed in their endeavors.
The requirement of college degrees for certain jobs has been an ongoing discussion in the modern workforce. According to a study conducted by T Sy, S Tram, and LA Ohara in 2006, many employers feel that a college degree is essential for certain jobs due to the idea that it is a sign of hard work and commitment, and it also serves as a signal to potential employers that the applicant is capable and qualified for the job (Sy et al., 2006). Additionally, having a college degree can signify to employers that the applicant possesses a certain level of emotional intelligence, which is required for many positions.
