Step 3 Now that you have a basic understanding of how to develop your own policy, it’s time to think about the steps involved.

• First, identify the goals and objectives for which this policy is intended. What do you want? Who do you want it for? What problems are they trying to solve?
• Next, find out what resources are available in order to achieve said goals and objectives (e.g., money). If there isn’t enough funding available, who else could help fund these projects besides yourself—and how much would each person contribute if need be? What specific skills does each person possess that could come into play here (e.g., accounting)?
