Korematsu v. United States is a case that has been debated for decades, and it’s still one of the most controversial Supreme Court decisions in history. The decision came down on February 19, 1944, when the Supreme Court ruled that Japanese-American citizens could be interned during World War II based solely on their ethnicity. This ruling was reversed by President Eisenhower in 1958, but as you’ll see below there were many issues with this decision that have continued to cause controversy ever since it happened — including whether or not Korematsu was legally justified at all! In this post we will look at how Justice Jackson originally framed his legal framework for analyzing decisions like these so that we can see how he might have determined Korematsu’s correctness from an historical perspective; then we’ll discuss whether that framework applies today given recent court decisions around racial profiling (and other similar issues).

The Supreme Court’s decision in Korematsu v. United States is a case that has been heavily criticized, particularly by historians and legal scholars. In this paper, we will attempt to provide an overview of the case’s events and its impact on both American history and constitutional law.
The story begins with Fred Korematsu Jr., born on June 16th 1920 in San Leandro California, who grew up to be one of America’s most famous Japanese-Americans during World War II (Hara 2004). In 1942 he became involved with the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) where he served as president from 1943 until 1945 when his father was arrested by the US government for refusing to register with them because he felt it would violate his civil liberties as an American citizen (Korematsu 1999).
The Civil Rights Act of 1964, also known as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, is a landmark piece of legislation in American history. It was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 2nd, 1964; however it did not become effective until April 11th 1965. The main purpose behind this act was to prohibit discrimination on the basis of race or color by any business establishment engaging in interstate commerce (this includes schools). However there were certain limitations placed upon this law due to its specific wording and purpose which may have prevented its full implementation at that time period.
In fact one such limitation was found within Section 2(a) paragraph 1 which states: “No person shall be deprived or abridged by any State or political subdivision thereof because such person has applied for admission as an alien lawfully entitled thereto; nor denied admission because he refuses to submit his application papers”. This limitation essentially says that if someone wants something done right then they must go through proper channels first before being able to receive what they want out of life.”
The case that led to the Supreme Court’s decision in Korematsu v. United States was brought before the court by Fred T. Korematsu, an American citizen who had been born and raised in California. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts when he was prosecuted for violating an order from President Franklin D Roosevelt ordering Japanese-Americans interned on the mainland without charge or trial (Korematsu v United States).
Korematsu appealed his conviction on three grounds: firstly because it violated his constitutional rights under Article III Section 2 (2nd Amendment), secondly because it violated due process under Article I Section 7 (5th Amendment), thirdly because it violated equal protection under Articles I & II respectively Title VII & XIV Part 1 Chapter 1 section 5(a)(1)&(2) Section 8(e)(3). All three appeals were denied by SCOTUS which upheld most parts but struck down section 3 as unconstitutional since it required people who were loyal Americans at one point during WWII such as Fred T who fought bravely alongside others overseas against Nazi Germany not only serve honorably but also repay their debt back home where they belong – not abroad where they weren’t allowed!
