At your current or previous job (hospital or not), have you witnessed an unsafe practice? Did you report it? If not, why didn’t you report it?

Introduction

I just want to say that I’ve been working as a nurse for many years. Despite this, I have never witnessed any unsafe practices at my current or previous job. While this may seem like a risky thing to do, it’s actually not. In fact, if you don’t speak up about something like this in your current workplace then other nurses who do witness unsafe practices may not report them because they don’t want to make waves or cause trouble for themselves or others around them. So let me explain why speaking up about an unsafe practice might be better than staying quiet about it:

What is the risk?

The risk of injury or death can be significant. In addition to the possibility of serious injuries, many other types of accidents can occur if you’re exposed to unsafe practices. For example, a nurse may accidentally cut themselves on a sharp piece of equipment and then pass it along to another patient in your care. Or an assistant manager may use the same needle when drawing blood from someone else’s arm instead of their own–resulting in an infected wound that could spread through your hospital’s staff and patients alike.

In general, there are three main categories for reporting unsafe practices: (1) physical harm; (2) infection; and (3) medical malpractice

Why didn’t you report it?

You may not have reported it because you were afraid of losing your job.

You may have been afraid of retaliation from the hospital or the person in charge of your department. For example, if someone treated you badly at work and then told others about it, they might use that information against you later on if they felt like it was necessary for them to get back at someone who had done something wrong against them (e.g., stealing).

You could also be afraid that if people knew what was going on in your department–and there were no rules governing how unsafe practices should be handled–they’d be less likely to hire people from outside companies because they would probably know nothing about how things work at those places! So even though this might seem helpful because people would know what their rights are as employees rather than contractors/freelancers/etc., there’s still plenty that goes into making sure those employees don’t abuse those rights either by being lazy or just not caring enough about doing anything right when working with patients under their care; so while this type might seem better economically speaking since we wouldn’t need any extra money coming in from outside sources…it doesn’t mean everyone would want one anyway!

Your job is not the same as in your former workplace. You may have witnessed an unsafe practice, but you should still speak out.

If so, what was the situation and how did it make you feel? Was there anything wrong with the situation that could have been prevented by reporting it directly to your manager or HR department instead of going through a formal reporting process.

Conclusion

There are many ways in which unsafe practices can be prevented. You can also speak out when you see something that is unsafe or dangerous. If you have witnessed a practice at work, please report it to your supervisor or human resources department so they can take action to ensure that all employees stay safe.
