You will write a 1250 to 1500 word analysis of the assigned Case Robin Chase, Zipcar. Throughout this course you have been examining the case utilizing the tools provided in The Case Study Handbook.
The final Case Study Project is to include an introduction and conclusion in addition to the following:
• synopsis of case,
• critical issues,
• statement of the problem/problems to be resolved,
• alternative solutions to problem/s,
• propose solutions and suggest implementation plan
• selection of alternative/s and
• rationale for selection, (link solution to problem analysis)
• anticipated results.
Use APA format (Times New Roman 12-point font, double spacing, proper title page, running head, page numbers, headings, and reference page). Include a minimum of two citations in your paper to support your possible solutions. Wikipedia is not an acceptable reference.
Week 1
The first step in the Case Study Project is to read the Case Study Handbook, and Robin Chase, Zipcar. Examine and identify the facts of the case. Break it into parts, identify issues with planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Begin the analysis of the case as you apply the Situation phase of study to the case. What is the factual information about this organization, its people, and their problems?
What information is assumed or inferred?
What are the major and minor problems in the case?
What is the situation of the case, a problem, decision, or evaluation?
Week 2
Case Study Questions are the topic for week 2 of the Case Study Project. Consider the planning function of management, or a lack of planning, when identifying a source for problems in the, Robin Chase, Zipcar case. Questions that arise as you read the case study will be pertinent to each of the problems in the case. “Question” is phase two of the case study process. Questions to consider:
What communication theories apply to these problems?
How do environmental (external or internal) factors influence this situation?
Are technological factors important? How?
What individual or group behavior factors are issues?
Who or what appears to be most responsible for the communication problems?
Are the principal individuals good communicators? If not, what are their limitations?
Are the principals in the case assuming responsibility for their communication behaviors?
What skills do the case principals exhibit? What skills are needed?
What is important or valuable to the individuals involved?
Do the principals share similar values?
Are individual and organizational goals compatible?
Prepare a written response to a minimum of 4 questions from this list that apply to the Case Study. Include a list of 2 to 4 problems or critical issues you have identified in the case.
Week 3
Phase three of the Case Study process is Hypothesis. Develop alternatives and test the reality of possible solutions. The leadership in an organization are often those responsible for decision making. A review of the situation and questions revealed so far in the analysis should result in possible alternatives to the problems discovered. Questions to aid you in shaping alternatives are:
What should be done based on your analysis?
What can be done?
How many alternatives for decisions/behaviors/changes can you identify?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of each alternative?
Can alternatives be combined?
Are the people involved willing to change?
Which theories, propositions, or positions support your choices?
For each alternative, what would be the result of implementation of that alternative?
Review your work from week two, (develop alternative solutions to problems), as you complete your assignment.
Week 4
Leadership roles require making judgements, selecting correct actions and response. The decision must be legal and ethical. Select one of the problems you have identified in the Robin Chase, Zipcar case. Apply phase 4, Proof and Action, questions below to your selected problem and possible solutions.
