Download the “Homework 4 – Makeup.data” file from the Data section in Blackboard. Open this sample data file in RapidMiner and perform the
following operations in the sequence in which they are listed below unless stated otherwise. Round all answers to two places after the decimal point.
Provide a single number as answer to each question in the “Answer” column below.

1. Add a primary key (ID variable) to the data file. What is the value of petal_length for case id#138?
2. Replace missing values on each numeric variable with the arithmetic mean of non-missing values of that variable. For
categorical variables use mode for missing value replacement. After missing value replacement what is the standard deviation
of sepal_width?
3. Normalize sepal_length using Z-transformation. After transformation what is the maximum Z value for this variable?
4. Transform petal_width using range transformation on interval [0, 100]. Report arithmetic mean of the transformed variable.
5. Use the incomplete data file from Question 1. For all numeric variables treat all cases that are more than 2 standard deviations
away from the mean as outliers. Filter out all outliers from the dataset. Report the remaining sample size.
6. Use the incomplete data file from Question 1. Discretize petal_width by binning (use 5 bins). Report relative frequency of the
lowest class interval.
7. Use the incomplete data file from Question 1. Discretize sepal_length by frequency (create 5 bins). Report relative frequency of
the highest class interval.
8. Use the incomplete data file from Question 1. Discretize sepal_length by size (set bin size to 25). Report relative frequency of
the highest class interval.
9. Use the incomplete data file from Question 1. Create a new variable X such that X = {(sepal_length +
petal_length)/2}/{(sepal_width + petal_width)/2}. Rescale X on a [0, 10] interval. Report the mean value of X.
10. Use the incomplete data file from Question 1. Report standard deviation of all values on sepal_width that are within 0.5
standard deviations of their arithmetic mean.
